Look at this beautiful screen on the new HTC Touch HD. Apparently this screen has an 800×480 resolution and measures about 3.2″. Imagine how nice GPS navigation would look on the HTC Touch HD.

Shenzen Power Century in 2007 was launched a new series of GPS models, one of which include the NPC-L507. NPC-L507 were exported all over the globe but apparently no takers here in the U.S. just yet. This GPS navigation system has a 4.3″ touch screen and is powered with Centrality Atlas-III 372MHZ CPU. It is quite light weight as it only weighs 150g and measures 119mmx78.5mmx15mm.

NPC-L507 offers some intermediate level GPS functions with some basic multimedia player capabilities. It supports various video format likes WMV, MPEG, avi, asf and 3GP, and the audio player supports WMA, MP3 and WAV file formats. There’s also the photo viewer.

Here is the Navman may not be one of the most known names in GPS navigation systems .It has a SiRF Star III GPS receiver and a screen with 480×272 resolution which measures 4.3 inches.  does support real time traffic updates however you’ll have to purchase the special cradle for this. It also comes with preloaded safety camera data as a free trial.

Navman used TeleAtlas from the final quarter of 2007 for this model and a 256MB internal memory for map data. It costs about 249 AUD which is about 205 USD.

Navigon announced the new Navigon 2000S. Navigon 2000S seems like a mid-range GPS navigation system with the price of an entry level system. It will cost $199 and will have a 3.5″ screen when it hits the stores in October. It features the Reality View Pro which talked about before when covering Navigon 7200T.

Sony of Japan released a couple of new GPS navigation systems again, available in Japan of course. The two new models are called Sony NV-U3V and Sony NV-U3, both of which feature a 4.8″ touch screen LCD display with 480×272 resolution.

Sony NV-U3V features a 1 Seg TV tuner support to watch digitally broadcast channels where as Sony NV-U3 don’t. However both sat nav systems come with an embedded 4GB flash memory, USB port, and support for various media files.

Sony NV-U3V and Sony NV-U3 will be available in Japan on October 23rd and will cost 400 € and 350 € respectively.

Mobile broadband offers unprecedented levels of convenience as far as broadband internet is concerned. All that is needed is the modem, and internet access is readily available, in theory anyway.

Thinkware announced the launch of its high-end 7-inch navigation device iNAVI K7 in Korea market, which is equipped with its dynamic electronic map of 3D space representation ‘iNAVI 3D’.

Adopting 8GB SDHC memory card and 256MB of RAM/ROM, the iNAVI K7 provides useful information on the 3D environment structure through a 7-inch WVGA(800 x 480 resolution) LCD in a photo realistic way.

In addition, the iNAVI K7 incorporated G-Sensor(Geomagnetic sensor: 3 axis sensor detecting absolute direction of north pole and heading direction of automobile) that enables stable use of navigation system, by enhancing the cognition of path of vehicle and speed up the search on iNAVI software.

Featuring its touch key with LED lights, it supports multimedia functions such as DMB, video player, mp3 playback, game, e-book and photo viewer and more, thanks to detachable battery pack.

MapmyIndia launched a Global Positioning System (GPS) based in-car navigation device, known as “MapmyIndia Navigator”.

For the moment its available in two hardware models including Delphi Nav 200 and AMAX 06GP5A. It has integrated GPS, a 3.5 inches color touch screen, Samsung 400 MHz processor, and additional multimedia features. It positions a wide range of perfect Indian maps, provided by CE Info Systems with overall coverage of different streets, localities and many landmarks in more than 18 major cities of the country. Now-a-days, MapmyIndia Navigator is available with car accessories and consumer electronics dealers, also it is available online at MapmyIndia.com.The price can be ranged up to Rs. 21,000 to 22,000. While driving, the user can mount the device on the windshield or dashboard, or else it can be held in hand by the person sitting in backseat of the car.

Another 2 GPS systems are showed at IFA 2008 in Germany, the Navigon 2200 and Navigon 2210.They’re very similar to 1200 and 1210 we just mentioned but also add text-to-speech feature to the mix.

As far as specs you’ve got the 375 MHz processor 512MB ROM/2GB ROM and 64 MB RAM. There is also the NAVIGON Fresh online service that allows you to upgrade your device with extras such as software updates, and latest speed trap information for the whole of Europe.

You can also subscribe for NAVIGON FreshMaps which lets you get new Navteq maps every three months. A 2 year subscription cost 99 €.

The NAVIGON 2210 costs 179 € and comes with maps for 40 European countries, while the 2200 version for Germany, Austria and Switzerland is available for 149 €.
